Altadis S.A. is a Franco-Spanish tobacco company headquartered in Madrid, formed in 1999 through the merger of France's SEITA and Spain's Tabacalera S.A. The company manufactures cigarettes under brands including Gauloises, Gitanes, Fortunas, Nobel, and Ducados at factories in France, Spain, and Morocco. Altadis also holds distribution rights for handmade premium cigars including Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann, and Bolivar in markets outside Cuba, manufactured at its facilities in the Dominican Republic and Honduras. Products are distributed through national tobacco importers and B2B wholesale partnerships in over 60 countries, with strong concentration in European, North African, and Latin American markets. Altadis has operated as a subsidiary of Imperial Brands PLC since 2008, which provides global distribution infrastructure and market access. The Spanish and French manufacturing heritage gives Altadis brands strong positioning in Western European wholesale tobacco channels.
