Greenfields Uganda Ltd opened Uganda's first fish processing plant in Entebbe in the late 1980s, shipping the first fresh-chilled Nile perch fillets to the Netherlands in March 1989. Operating from a private landing harbour on the Entebbe shoreline within 5 km of Entebbe International Airport, the company processes and packs chilled and frozen Nile perch and tilapia under HACCP and ISO 22000 systems. Greenfields is a founding member of the Uganda Fish Processors and Exporters Association (UFPEA).
