Strube Research GmbH is a German private family seed company founded in 1877 in Soltau, Lower Saxony, specialising in the development and commercial distribution of sugar beet and cereal seed varieties. The company is one of the independent European beet seed breeders and has been developing sugar beet genetics continuously since the nineteenth century, building a portfolio of varieties recognised for their Rhizomania resistance, high extractable sugar content and adaptation to Northern European production conditions. Cereal variety development covers winter wheat, winter barley and winter rye. Strube breeding stations are located in Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. Products are distributed through the SES VanderHave distribution network in some markets and through independent national seed dealer channels in others. Buyers include sugar processing companies that recommend or mandate specific beet varieties to contracted growers, as well as grain merchants and cooperative seed stores serving cereal producers. Strube also invests in hybrid barley and hybrid rye programmes, reflecting the company's long-term commitment to heterosis breeding across cereal crops.
