The Apquip system for edge and face gluing is a pressurized, non-circulation adhesive application system which incorporates an extrusion head and an air operated adhesive valve. The control system provides a timed and highly accurate adhesive application with excellent repeatability. A meter mixer, pump or tank provides constant adhesive pressure. A single sensor is used to detect the leading and trailing edge of the board. As the board is sensed, the adhesive valve opens, allowing the adhesive to flow until the trailing edge is sensed. The start and stop points can be accurately adjusted to meet each individual customer’s specifications.
