QAFAC is an Industries Qatar joint-venture company producing methanol and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) at Mesaieed Industrial City. Methanol is exported to chemical manufacturers in Asia and Europe while MTBE is blended into reformulated gasoline in the United States and other markets requiring clean-burning fuel additives. Annual production is approximately 920,000 tonnes.
