About
Remo, Inc. is an American manufacturer of drumheads and hand percussion instruments headquartered in Valencia, California, USA. Founded in 1957 by Remo Belli, the company invented the plastic (Mylar) drumhead to replace the traditional calfskin head, which responded poorly to humidity and temperature changes during outdoor performances. Remo drumheads are now the industry standard used by professional drummers, school music programs, and recording studios worldwide. The product range covers single-ply (Ambassador), double-ply (Emperor), coated, clear, hazy, pinstripe, powerstroke, and specialty drumheads for snare drums, tom-toms, bass drums, and specialty percussion. Remo also manufactures world and hand percussion instruments under the World Percussion brand: frame drums, doumbeks, djembes, gathering drums, and ocean drums designed for music therapy, school programs, and community drumming. The company supplies drumheads as OEM components to drum kit manufacturers including Pearl, Ludwig, and others, in addition to after-market sales through music retailers. Remo distributes in approximately 80 countries via national distributors and music dealer networks.
