La Rhumerie de Chamarel opened in 2008 on a 35-hectare estate in the south-west of Mauritius, producing single-estate agricole rum from pure cane juice. Annual production reaches 250,000 litres, of which approximately 45% is exported to France, Finland, Switzerland, China and Japan. The distillery also operates an estate restaurant called L'Alchimiste.
