F. Scott MacLeod wurde in Sydney, Nova Scotia, geboren. Nachdem er viele Jahre in Ontario gelebt und gearbeitet hatte, kehrte er 1999 nach Nova Scotia zurück und lebt heute in Lunenburg. Das Malen mit Öl auf Leinwand hat sein Berufsleben als Künstler dominiert. Als Autodidakt und beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Matisse, Modigliani und Diebenkorn ist MacLeods Technik spontan und malerisch, aber nicht überdacht. Er verlässt sich auf den anorganischen Einsatz von Farben, um Konventionen zu trotzen und immer originelle Werke zu schaffen. MacLeods atemberaubende fiktive und wörtliche Landschaften sind von der majestätischen Schönheit Nova Scotias und Ostkanadas inspiriert.
