Thungela Resources es un productor sudafricano de carbón térmico que cotiza en la JSE y la Bolsa de Valores de Londres y que se escindió de Anglo American en 2021 y opera seis minas de carbón térmico de exportación en Mpumalanga, incluidas Goedehoop, Greenside, Isibonelo y Zibulo, y exporta su producción a través de la terminal de carbón de Richards Bay. La empresa produce aproximadamente entre 13 y 14 millones de toneladas vendibles de carbón al año, dirigidas a los mercados energéticos asiáticos y europeos.
