L'Hacienda Selva Negra est une ferme de biosphère de 1 400 ha et l'un des producteurs de café de spécialité les plus anciens et les plus prestigieux du Nicaragua. À 1 200-1 600 m d'altitude dans la forêt nuageuse de Matagalpa, Selva Negra cultive du Bourbon, du Caturra et du Typica arabicas cultivés à l'ombre sous le couvert des bananiers et des arbres indigènes. Les produits comprennent du café vert lavé et traité au miel et du café torréfié certifié biologique. Vendu à des torréfacteurs spécialisés aux États-Unis, en Allemagne et au Japon.
