Hy-Line International is the world's largest layer hen genetics company, headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, United States, and part of the EW Group portfolio alongside Aviagen and Lohmann Tierzucht. Founded in 1936 by Henry A. Wallace, Hy-Line pioneered commercial hybrid layer hen breeding and today supplies genetics under the Hy-Line Brown (brown-egg, docile temperament) and W-36, W-80 and W-98 (white-egg, high efficiency) brands to commercial egg producers worldwide. Products are distributed through a network of licensed multipliers who produce and supply parent-stock pullets and chicks locally, giving Hy-Line presence in more than 120 countries without requiring direct export of grandparent stock. Customers include large integrated egg production companies, family-run layer farms and cooperative producers seeking breed lines optimised for egg mass, shell quality, livability and feed efficiency. Hy-Line maintains applied research farms in the United States and Europe to accelerate genetic progress across health, welfare and production traits.
