Babolna TETRA Kft. is a Hungarian poultry genetics company based at the Babolna Agricultural Estate in Babolna, Komarom-Esztergom County, Hungary. The estate's poultry genetics programme traces to the 1960s when systematic layer breed development began under the state agricultural enterprise. The company today develops and markets pure-line layer hen breeds under the TETRA SL (white-shell, high efficiency) and TETRA B (brown-shell, robust) brands, as well as broiler parent stock lines for commercial chicken production. Babolna TETRA maintains nucleus breeding flocks at the Babolna facility and supplies grandparent and parent stock as hatching eggs and day-old chicks to multiplier farms and commercial hatcheries. The company has developed a strong position in Central and Eastern European markets including Romania, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary, as well as export markets in Turkey, Egypt, North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and Central Asia (Kazakhstan).
