Why this works
Every fact on an invoice can be checked somewhere: the VAT register knows the name, the domain registry knows the date, the IBAN carries its country and checksum. A fraudster can fake any ONE of them convincingly, but keeping all of them coherent with each other and with the public record is nearly impossible. That is why this check looks for contradictions between independent sources instead of scoring the company, and why an honest unknown is shown where a source did not answer.

What does the pre-payment check actually verify?
It cross-examines the details of one invoice against independent official sources: the VAT number against the EU VIES register (existence AND whose name it is registered to), the website domain's registration age against public RDAP records, whether the sender's email domain matches the company's website, whether the IBAN passes its international checksum and belongs to the same country the company is registered in, and the name against consolidated sanctions lists. Fraud is rarely visible in any single source; it shows up as contradictions between them.
Why check these things before paying a new supplier?
Supplier impersonation and payment-diversion fraud happen at exactly this moment: a convincing invoice, a small change in bank details, an email address one letter away from the real one. A valid-looking VAT that belongs to a different company, a three-week-old domain behind a supplier claiming decades of history, or an IBAN in a third country are the classic tells, and each takes seconds to catch when checked together.
Is a green result a guarantee the supplier is safe?
No. It means the details you pasted do not contradict each other or the public record. It is strong evidence you are dealing with the company you think you are, not a guarantee of their performance. Where we could not check something, the report says unknown rather than pretending.
