Kerala State Coir Corporation, founded in 1969 in Alappuzha (Alleppey), is one of India's largest coir (coconut husk fibre) processors. Kerala produces 60% of India's coir, which is used in floor mats, doormats, geotextiles, composites, and rope. The corporation exports coir yarn, mats, mattings, and fibre to Europe, the US, and Japan.
