About
Takii and Company is a Japanese seed company founded in 1835 in Kyoto, making it one of the oldest continuously operating seed houses in the world. The company breeds and markets hybrid vegetable varieties including tomato, pepper, melon, watermelon, cucumber, radish, carrot, Chinese cabbage and broccoli, as well as ornamental flower seeds such as cyclamen, begonia, carnation and pansy. International sales are conducted through Takii Europe in the Netherlands (serving the European vegetable and ornamental trade), Takii Saaten in Germany, Takii Iberia in Spain, Takii Italy and Takii America in the United States. Distribution reaches more than 100 countries through authorised seed distributors, transplant nurseries and cooperative procurement groups. Takii is particularly well known for its cyclamen genetics in the ornamental sector and for its tomato varieties adapted to Japanese and East Asian fresh market requirements.
